Based upon the Victorian novel of the same name by Frances Hodges Burnett, "The Secret Garden" pulls us back in time to 1906, to Misselthwaite Manor in Yorkshire, England where a grieving, hunchbacked widower, Archibald Craven, his ailing 10-year-old son, Colin, and his physician brother, Neville, live.

Into their lives, from India, comes Mr. Craven's recently orphaned niece, a sour-faced 10-year-old little girl named Mary Lennox. Each of these characters struggles with his/her own ghosts from the past who haunt their waking and dreaming. When Mary asks her Uncle Archie, "Does everyone who dies become a ghost?" He answers, "They're only a ghost if someone alive is still holding onto them."

So, as Mary learns to find happiness at Misselthwaite through the healing companionship of her chambermaid, Martha, and Martha's brother, Dickon, she recognizes the ghostly unhappiness in the household and through her gentle tending, brings the story to its uplifting ending.

The beautiful music of Lucy Simon, including such songs as "Winter's on the Wing" and "Lily's Eyes", lifts the emotional experience of this enduring story to new heights for both children and adults.

Charley's Aunt - Feb 12, 13, 14 @ 8 pm - Feb 15 @ 2 pm - 2009

The Full Monty

Directed by Nancy Barry

Produced by Dottie Fair

A world-famous farce of hysterical proportions, Charley's Aunt tells the story of two Oxford undergrads, Charley Wykeham and Jack Chesney, both ready and eager to entertain two young ladies in their chambers - with the assistance of a proper chaperon, of course.

When Charley's Aunt Lucia d'Alvadorez is expected on a visit from Brazil ("where the nuts come from"), Charley and Jack plan their romantic opportunity, expecting Aunt Lucia to be standing by. The boys panic when Charley's Aunt is unexpectedly detained on business and they persuade their friend, Lord Fancourt Babberly, to masquerade as "Aunt Lucia."

On the fateful day, Lord Fancourt, dressed as Charley's Aunt, drives Charley and Jack to distraction when he makes outrageous passes at the young ladies -- and, of course, the real Aunt Lucia arrives to complicate matters, with her adopted neice in tow.  A quadrangle of hilarity ensues when Jack's father falls for the fake "Aunt Lucia."  Yet love triumphs as all the twists and turns somehow lead to the happiest of endings.

Brandon Thomas' classic farce ran for four years in London and another four on Broadway, before being adapted into four feature films and the musical "Where's Charley"!

It’s 1997 in Buffalo, NY .  The recession has shut down the steel mills, real estate values are dropping, and people are leaving by the tens of thousands.  The men left behind are unemployed, disenfranchised, scrap.  Proud, strong and solitary, they are reluctant to accept ordinary jobs.  Their wives have found work but struggle to deal with the bills and the husbands who, in their eyes, are failing.

When Jerry Lukowski learns his ex-wife is suing for sole custody of their son for lack of support and that she and her friends are paying $50 a pop to watch The Chippendales perform at a local club, he gets the hair-brained scheme to gather together some of his buddies to do the same, make a bundle and give the women what they really want to see: real men and The Full Monty.  What the men learn about themselves, their partners and each other through their effort to strip is the heart of this funny, moving and energizing musical.

Recommended for mature audiences.
